YA Highway – WIP into Haiku

The writing folks at YA Highway have issued an invitation on their blog to turn your writing work-in-progress into a Haiku.  This was too much fun to resist (and who would want to?).  So here is mine!  Well, actually two of mine.  Since I am working on a series I’ve written one about the first book and one about the series as a whole.

Let me know what you think!

Book 1: Raven Academy

Boy finds he’s a part
of a world outside of time
and trouble’s brewing.

Citadel of Kidrodell

A world outside time,
Improving off our mistakes,
’Laws of Hist’ry’ win?

You can also follow my Kidrodell posts to read more about this specific WIP or visit the about page of the Kidrodell website (also a work-in-progress) to see the site which will eventually host the series!

Thanks for playing! I’m intrigued by these haiku – especially this world outside time and the way the mistakes from human history seem to still apply. Good work!

Nice job!! Are these both YA? Sound really interesting…

Very awesome. I’m impressed that you managed to do one encompassing an entire series. Just individual books were hard enough for me!

I’m not sure yet how many books the series will ultimately be, but I’ve already planned out the next few and know how the series will end. I considered writing haiku for those I’ve planned, but I decided not to count too many chickens at least until I’ve knocked out the first book.

    Thanks!

Incidentally, unless I’m missing something there appears to be a shortage of men in the YA space. Any thoughts?

I think there is a bit of a shortage. We’ve discussed the lack of YA stories written with male perspective. These haiku are great. Very intriguing!
